If you choose not to rent a car, there are multiple bus routes just steps away. 

Uber or Lyft also available. Everything else is walking distance or easily accessible by bus which is one of the best systems in the US.

Fantastic place to stay in Waikiki. Everyone in the building was super nice and the apartment is conveniently located to make virtually everything in Waikiki a 20 minute walk at most. East-facing windows are a highlight. I will miss waking up naturally to the sunrise and a beautiful view everyday!
